Recycle Hawaiʻi honors the wisdom of Kanaka Maoli and Kanaka ʻŌiwi by integrating Indigenous knowledge, values, and leadership into a regenerative vision for Hawaiʻi’s future. Rooted in the principle of mālama ʻāina—caring for the land— Recycle Hawai’i works alongside Native Hawaiian leadership, nonprofit partners, and communities to restore balance, strengthen self-sufficiency, and build systems that reflect deep cultural and ecological wisdom. About This CauseLong before modern supply chains and imported goods shaped life in Hawaiʻi, these islands were sustained by the knowledge and stewardship of Kanaka Maoli and Kanaka ʻŌiwi. Traditional Hawaiian systems of agriculture, water management, and land stewardship supported thriving communities while maintaining ecological balance.
