Inspire Inkster has been invited to participate in a mid-May 2025 City of Inkster ceremony that will celebrate graduating high school seniors from Inkster, MI. As part of our participation, we would like to offer every graduating high school student who attends the ceremony a scholarship/grant that will help with the student's next steps in life -- whether that help is applied to tuition for college or trade school, textbooks, the first set of interview clothes that they will use after finishing high school, rent for the first place they move into as a new adult, and similar costs related to the transition to adulthood. We would also like to give everyone the opportunity to honor loved ones, business ventures, and similar by allowing donors to name the scholarship/grant that they are making possible via their support! In order to provide the name for an award that a student will receive during this ceremony, the minimum donation for this is set at $50. (Names of awards are subject to the approval of Inspire Inkster in order to ensure appropriateness for the ceremony and to make sure that all award names align with the mission/vision of both the ceremony organizers and the nonprofit.) The campaign target of $2,500 is set in order to provide 50 students with $50 awards. However, if we surpass this target, we will increase the amount that is given for each student (i.e. if we receive $5,000, 50 students will receive a $100 scholarship/grant). Donors are also encouraged to donate a smaller amount to show support without naming an award, to surpass the $50 minimum for naming the award if desired, or to donate $50 or more and specify that they do not wish to name an award if desired. If fewer than 50 students attend the May 2025 ceremony, and we have received donations that name 50 awards, we will seek additional recommendations for graduating Inkster-based high school seniors who should earn an award based on merit.  If more than 50 students attend the May 2025 ceremony, and a significant amount of funds have been raised, we will consider strategies for the distribution of awards based on how many funds were received (i.e. increasing the number of awards provided if this does not lower the amount each students receives below $50). If few scholarships/grants are funded through this campaign and would not make it possible for each attendee to receive an impactful gift if divided among all graduating high school seniors, we will seek a recommendation from the organizers of the ceremony as to how the awards should be distributed among the students attending the event.
