🌟 Join us in Creating Change! 🌟 The Open Door Food Pantry’s Jail-a-Thon is a fun, community-driven fundraising event with a serious purpose—supporting our mission to fight hunger in Perquimans County. Participants volunteer to be “arrested” and temporarily “locked up” in a mock jail on the lawn of the Perquimans County Courthouse. With the help of the Perquimans County Sheriff’s Office, these good-natured arrests come with sirens, handcuffs, and all the theatrics—bringing awareness to the cause in a lighthearted and engaging way. Each participant has a $1000 “bail” and reaches out to friends, family, coworkers, and community members to raise funds for their release. Many collect donations ahead of time, while others make calls live from “jail,” urging supporters to help them bail out and support local families in need. Proceeds from the Jail-a-Thon help us purchase food, personal care items, and other essentials for our neighbors, especially as the demand for assistance continues to rise.
