Keep Local News Alive in Kaʻū! 📰 We are thrilled to announce that Kaʻū News is officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization! We are a 100% volunteer-run community newspaper dedicated to providing factual local news, historic moʻolelo, and civic reporting across the Kaʻū district. We believe that access to transparent, community-driven information is vital for a resilient Hawaiʻi. Why We Need Your Help: Historically, our printing and operations have been funded by local business sponsorships. However, following the economic impact of Hurricane Lala, many of our beloved local advertisers have had to pull back. To keep the presses rolling and build a sustainable future so our paper remains accessible to everyone in our district, we rely on the ongoing support of our readers. We have established a baseline funding goal of $8,000 to bridge this gap. 100% of your tax-deductible donation goes directly toward our hard costs: printing the physical paper, postage for local distribution, and the necessary liability insurance to protect our volunteer journalists.
