*See note before donatingLike every year the warm weather brings a wave of new moms and kittens. In just the last few weeks we have taken in 32 cats and kittens, and each one needs care. On average, we spend a minimum of $120 per cat, and that’s before any complications arise. This week, one of the kittens we took in arrived with a severely damaged eye, an issue rescuers see far too often. People often ask how something so serious can happen. Was it abuse? A car? A wild animal? The truth is that kittens born to stray or feral moms face constant threats: URIs, eye infections, fleas, and other preventable issues. While adult cats can sometimes fight these things off, kittens can decline overnight. A simple eye infection can turn into the loss of an eye before anyone even finds them. On top of the 30+ spay/neuter, vaccines and microchips we’ll be covering in the coming weeks and months, this little one will likely need an eye removal surgery once they’re older and big enough for anesthesia. Until then, they’ll likely need multiple vet visits, medications, and supportive care to keep them comfortable and infection free.We can’t do this work without our incredible community. If you’re able to donate even, one dollar, it truly makes a difference. Every little bit helps us save lives and give these babies the future they deserve. 6/5/26 Update: The baby with eye damage(now named Pomegranate) is currently hospitalized at VEG after taking a turn for the worse last night. They are receiving supportive care and are still hanging on at this time.6/6/26 Update: Unfortunately Pomegranate has passed away. His time with us was short but in that short time he was loved. ❤️ *PLEASE NOTE IF YOU DO DONATE- During checkout, you will see a secondary donation box with a 17% tip automatically applied that goes to Zeffy. THIS FEE IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. To opt out, click on the tip amount, select “Other”, and enter any amount you prefer, even $0. Whatever you choose is perfectly fine.
