Two railway cars, one blue and yellow and one rusty red, sit on tracks against a backdrop of bare trees.

The Collis P. Huntington Railroad Historical Society has generously donated CSX Bay Window Caboose 903961 to the Kentucky Steam Heritage Corp. Located in Huntington, WV., the caboose is on an isolated section of track and will require crane work and transportation to our campus in Irvine, KY. The caboose is in excellent condition, and we anticipate a speedy return to regular operation after some minor repairs. The estate of the Kevin "Tilford Tech" Wood has also graciously donated former South Louisville Shops built L&N caboose 6310 (CSX 900061). The caboose is currently located in Social Circle, GA and will also require crane work and trucking back to Irvine, KY. This particular caboose with its rich L&N heritage will be an important addition to our collection & campus operations consist. The caboose will require extensive interior and exterior work, but our organization is excited to begin restoration efforts to return 6310 back to her L&N appearance. Your gift to these caboose projects keeps railroad history moving. Each contribution helps restore and preserve historic cabooses that share the story of railroading with today’s visitors and future generations. 🚂 By supporting this project, you help create living history experiences that educate, engage, and strengthen heritage tourism in Eastern Kentucky. Thank you for backing the relocation and restoration work that turns aging rail equipment into working, teachable artifacts. 🛠️
