🌟 Please help us buy and install a generator for our newborn kitten rescue organization to keep our incubators running during power outages. 🌟 Furrr 911&nbsp;is a rescue organization dedicated to the care of newborn kittens ranging in age from birth to 4 weeks of age. We are currently sitting here without electrical power to run our incubators, to heat up warming disks, or even to generate hot water to make formula. Thankfully, this power outage did not occur several days ago when we were experiencing temperatures of 100&deg; for days in a row and had multiple fans and air conditioners running. Power outages make it incredibly difficult to properly warm and and care for our fragile newborns. A standby generator run by propane is not a luxury for us; it is a necessity. In 2024, a local contracting company reached out and offered to donate and install a generator to our non-profit organization in exchange for the publicity and tax write-off. They sent out their electrician and a company representative to complete the estimate based upon what our energy needs were to run 26 incubators, medical equipment such as nebulizers and oxygen concentrators, and refrigerators that store thousands of dollars of medications, vaccines, and test kits. When the project was totalled up according to what the company employees determined that we needed, the estimate came to $17,100. There was also a disclaimer that this estimate did NOT include the cost to install tanks, deliver propane, or hook up the propane tanks which are necessary to run the generator. Days after the estimate was emailed to the rescue, we received a call that the contracting company did not expect the project to be this costly, so they were rescinding their offer to donate. Please remember that the estimate that we were given is from October 2024, and prices have gone up since then. Our small rescue organization does not have a large social media following or wealthy benefactors. Our rescue is run entirely on private donations from people like you. We struggle to raise a couple thousand dollars through two fundraisers each year in order to continue operating day to day. This fundraiser goal feels insurmountable, but what else can I do as I sit here worrying about the kittens because we have not had electricity for several hours now. Being able to purchase and install a generator would provide us with a sense of security that we could care for our babies no matter what external circumstances were occurring.
