Our hearts are heavy as we share this message in the wake of the catastrophic flooding that has devastated the Texas Hill Country. The scale of this loss is almost unimaginable, and its impact has touched our MDE community in the most heartbreaking way.&nbsp; As many of you may know, Lucy Dillon, a rising 3rd grader at MDE, was attending camp when the floodwaters rose. Tragically, Lucy was among the children who did not make it out. Words cannot fully express the sorrow we feel.&nbsp; Lucy was known by those who loved her as exceptionally smart, hard-working, loving, and a fierce competitor in everything she did. Her spirit, her joy, and her strength made a lasting impact on her friends, her teachers, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.&nbsp; Brandt and Lisa Dillon, Lucy&rsquo;s parents, are active and beloved members of the MDE community. &nbsp;They have generously given their time and energy over the years, coaching basketball and softball teams, volunteering at MDE, and supporting the passions of their children every day. &nbsp;Their commitment to MDE and its families has always been a reflection of the love and values they instill in their home.&nbsp;&nbsp; With the heartfelt blessing of Brandt and Lisa, we have established a dedicated fund in Lucy&rsquo;s name through the MDE Dad&rsquo;s Club, a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
