Two children, one on a bicycle in the foreground and the other holding a snowboard in the background, bump fists against a backdrop of snowy mountains and trees.

For many kids, learning to ski, snowboard, or mountain bike feels out of reach. The cost of equipment, transportation, instruction, food, and the time required from working parents can create a long list of barriers before a child ever gets the chance to try. At Cuchara Mountain Park, we believe those barriers shouldn't determine which kids get to experience the mountains. Our youth mountain bike and ski/snowboard camps are designed to be truly all-inclusive: registration covers gear, transportation, instruction, and food. This means a child can show up with no prior experience—and no expensive equipment—and discover something they never thought they could do. In our most recent mountain bike camp, half of the participating families needed scholarships. Some of those kids had never ridden a bike before. One parent told us, “I was honestly hesitant about sending my kids because I thought they might not like it because two could not ride at all... Not only did they learn and do well, but I feel the camp and instructors instilled a love for the outdoors in my children.” Your donation helps make that possible. $100 provides a full scholarship for one child, giving them the opportunity to learn a new sport, explore their local mountains, build confidence, and make new friends.
