Four children in colorful helmets and outfits pose with their bicycles on a paved surface, with trees and a building visible in the sunny background.

Saturday, October 3 · 10 a.m. to noon · Bennett Lake, Roseville Every morning, inside a grand old stone church in Saint Paul's Summit Hill neighborhood, a small group of children begins the day the same way: a morning lesson, a poem, a song on the pentatonic flute. Later there's watercolor, beeswax modeling, work in the garden, and long stretches of unstructured play outside — rain, snow, or sun. This is Meadowlark: a nonprofit, nature-based, Waldorf-inspired microschool with a second grade and a fourth grade, taught by two longtime Waldorf teachers, Joyce and Will. It's learning experienced with the head, heart, and hands. On Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to noon, our kids are getting on their bikes to keep this school going. Two hours of laps in the cold October air. Helmets, a snack table, somebody's little brother on a balance bike, at least one scraped knee. Our goal is $10,000, and every dollar of it stays with the children. You don't need a bike. You sponsor the ride. Give any amount here — before, during, or after — or give in a rider's honor and let them pedal knowing you're behind them. You don't have to live in Minnesota or know a single child at this school to be part of it. What the $10,000 does Keeps it accessible. We keep our tuition low and we offer robust tuition assistance to anyone who needs it. We never want a family turned away over money. Your gift to our tuition assistance fund keeps a seat open for a child who belongs here. Supports our teachers. Joyce and Will are the heart of this school — longtime Waldorf teachers who give the children their full attention every day. One of Meadowlark's core principles is paying our teachers a living wage. Brings specialty classes to the children. Meadowlark students learn Spanish, movement and violin. Your support allows us to hire these expert teachers. Stocks the classroom. We keep things minimal at Meadowlark — no screens, no whiteboards — just materials that come from the earth. But still, the supply costs keep climbing — beeswax, watercolors, wood flutes, main-lesson books, seeds and building materials — it adds up, and it's the raw stuff of every day here. Want to ride? Riding is free and everyone is welcome — kids, parents, grandparents, neighbors. Just bring your own bike. We ride laps around Bennett Lake in Roseville, rain or shine. If a school like this seems worth having in the world, this is a way to help it stay in the world. Meadowlark Microschool is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. EIN: 92-3953822. Your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
