The MLK University/Community Planning Corporation, a 501(c)(3) organization, brings together Orange County communities to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy and celebrate the efforts of community members and organizations. Thanks to contributions from community members like you, we have awarded 380+ scholarships to students who have demonstrated a commitment to community involvement through their civic, educational, and religious activities. The event is scheduled for Sunday, January 17, 2027, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel. It offers a meaningful opportunity to support our scholarship fund. Our goal is to award 15-20 non-renewable scholarships of $1,000-$1,500. Achieving this ambitious target depends on strong community support. All net proceeds will go directly toward student scholarships. Every contribution is vital to helping students gain the financial resources and encouragement they need to pursue their educational goals. However, we want to do even more! These scholarships provide crucial support for students and help promote educational growth at the college level. Ongoing community support has made this celebration a meaningful tradition, fostering community and a brighter future. Each year, we appreciate individuals like you who make our efforts possible and serve as role models for future generations. We invite you to visit our event website at mlkpc-ch.com to learn more about this year’s celebration, view details about past events and scholarship recipients, and make your donation online. Donations can also be mailed. Please make checks payable to the MLK University/Community Planning Corporation and send them to P.O. Box 9202, Chapel Hill, NC 27515. We appreciate your past contributions and invite your continued support and participation in this meaningful celebration of Dr. King’s life and legacy. On behalf of the MLK/University Planning Corporation and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, we look forward to receiving your contribution to this important community event and scholarship.
