A zebra swallowtail butterfly with black and white stripes rests on a budding branch with a blurred green background.

The Zebra Swallowtail butterfly has one host plant: the native Pawpaw tree. Without it, the butterfly cannot reproduce. Wild Ones PA Ridge & Valley is building a Pawpaw corridor across Blair County, from Johnstown to Lewistown, so this striking butterfly has the connected habitat it needs to thrive. We planted the first trees this spring. Your gift funds the next round of plantings, expanding the corridor one cohort at a time: bare-root Pawpaw trees, protective tree shelters, mulch, and planting materials for new sites across central Pennsylvania.
