WHERE $9,856 GOES — AND WHY IT'S THAT NUMBERI have real bills and a dog who needs new knees. So let me break it down. Piper needs two TPLO surgeries. One on each back leg. Two separate surgeries. Two separate recoveries. Here's what the number covers:• X-rays — back when we thought this was hip dysplasia• The orthopedic specialist visit — the one that changed everything• Surgery #1 — done. It went on my personal credit card. I'm the veteran who started this rescue. There was no fund sitting there waiting for it. What's left? The second surgery. The meds. The rehab. And the months-long recovery window she has to get through after that. She's 70 pounds of goofball. Creeks. Crawfish. Trails. Fetch. The Jeep. She's been waiting a long time for her person.
