Preserving History. Inspiring Generations. Advancing Community. 258 Years of History. A Legacy Worth Preserving. A Future Worth Investing In. Built in 1768, Johnson House Historic Site stands as one of Philadelphia's treasured historic landmarks. Located in the heart of Germantown, the house later became an important Underground Railroad station, where the Johnson family participated in the abolitionist movement and helped enslaved Africans escape. Today, Johnson House is more than a historic landmark. It is a living center for education, advocacy, cultural engagement, and community empowerment. Through our work as an Underground Railroad Station and Center for Social Advocacy, we connect the courage and determination of the past with the responsibility we share to shape a more just and equitable future.
