Erin&#39;s Way was created in memory of our daughter, Erin, who was autistic and tragically passed away after eloping from our home. While Project Lifesaver would not have saved Erin, we know it can save others.&nbsp; We understand the fear families live with when a loved one is at risk of wandering, and we are committed to helping provide resources that may prevent another family from experiencing the devastating loss that ours has faced. Today, we are working to ensure other families have access to an additional layer of protection.Project Lifesaver is an internationally recognized search-and-rescue program used by more than 1,800 law enforcement agencies. Participants wear a small radio-frequency transmitter that allows specially trained first responders to locate them quickly if they wander or become lost. The program has helped facilitate nearly 5,000 rescues worldwide, with average recovery times often measured in minutes rather than hours. Erin&#39;s Way is partnering with the Dunmore Police Department and local Search &amp; Rescue teams to bring Project Lifesaver to our community&mdash;the first program of its kind in Northeastern Pennsylvania. In addition to providing the equipment, officers receive specialized training on search techniques and interacting with individuals who may have autism, dementia, Down syndrome, or other conditions that increase the risk of wandering. Your donation will help fund:&bull; Participant transmitters and wristbands&bull; Specialized receiver equipment&bull; Officer training and certification&bull; Program administration and support&bull; Financial assistance to ensure no family is denied access due to cost Our goal is to make this lifesaving program available to families throughout our region and, , free to participants who cannot afford the cost of a transponder.&nbsp; Every dollar brings us closer to preventing another family from experiencing the heartbreak ours has endured.
