A woman reaches into a bag while a man sits on a sidewalk with a dog, with other people and dogs in the background of a city street.

For many people experiencing homelessness, their dog is more than a pet; they are family, protection, comfort, and constant companionship. We see this need firsthand in Fort Worth. During one recent visit alone, we saw approximately 25–30 dogs living alongside their people. We saw loyal companions who were hungry, in the Texas heat, staying close to the people who depended on them. We saw people who, despite having so little, were doing everything they could to care for their dogs. These pups are not left behind, they are sharing the hardship, offering comfort, and remaining faithfully by their person’s side. They deserve to be remembered, cared for, and included.Through our Pup Packs campaign, The Thomas Effect will provide doggie bags during homeless outreach throughout the year. Bags may include dog food, treats, collapsible bowls, toys, waste bags, blankets, and other essential supplies. Our major distribution takes place this Christmas through our Stockings for Pine Street project, and this effort continues when we distribute homeless supply bags in our community. When we care for these dogs, we also care for the people who love them. Your donation will help provide nourishment, comfort, and dignity to dogs who faithfully remain by their person’s side through everything. No person forgotten. No pup forgotten.
