Twelve years ago, a quirky little pony named Moe arrived at our farm in crisis.  At 13 years old, he was suffering from severe metabolic disease; debilitating diarrhea, a dangerously enlarged crest, and painful hooves. His defensive and resistant behavior left him labeled as aggressive and unmanageable when, in fact, it screamed of constant discomfort. He was a horse in pain. Today, at 25, Moe is thriving. His crest is normal. His hooves are healthy. His pain is gone. And his personality? He's become the affectionate, playful companion he was always meant to be, greeting us with nickers, leaning in for scratches, and showing us every day what's possible when we listen to what Horses truly need. How did we do it?  Not with pharmaceuticals or conventional methods. We kept him moving, feeding him what would make him better... balanced hay and feed along with herbs for gut support. And we kept him with his friends, important for the mental wellbeing of any herd animal. Moe's transformation isn't just a success story. It's proof that our approach works. And it's exactly why we need your help to expand what we're doing here, not just for Horses but for Land and Humans. Our Mission. Return to Horse Medicine is a Native American-inspired nonprofit dedicated to regenerating Land, Horses, and Humans.  It's all about healthy relationships. By clearly defining restorative as “returning the health, strength, and wellbeing” and regenerative as “to heal damage or injury” the vision of the organization manifests in the following ways:<ul><li>Horses. Improve the lives and opportunities for orphaned foals, wild/feral Horses, and those with problematic behaviors in such a way as to restore the power and nature of the Horse. As part of that process, we establish, repair, deepen, and nurture the relationship between Humans and Horses.</li><li>Land. Using regenerative practices, returning Land to its healthful state in a way that balances ecosystems and supports life and living.</li><li>Humans. Educating humans on how to do what we are doing by providing the information, tools, and strategies that improve their relationship with Horses, Land, and themselves in a way that reinforces the importance of interconnectivity, sacredness, and healing. </li></ul>In so doing, we remind humankind that we are all connected and that all living beings have the same deep, meaningful relationship to offer us if we simply learn the tools to access it. We're at an Exciting Time! We have newly arrived on 34 acres in beautiful Highland County Virginia where we are continuing our regenerative work.  Return To Horse Medicine is building for now AND the future.  This campaign is about building and expanding the infrastructure that will allow us to do more today and tomorrow. They're written off, misunderstood as “easy keepers,” medicated in ways that exacerbate their issues. Their lives are often unnecessarily cut short, unlike Moe who is living strong and healthy at 25. But we believe every Horse deserves to be seen, heard, and healed. We believe Land can be regenerated in ways that allow us to be in service to the Land and the Land to be in service to humanity. We believe relationships—between Humans, Animals, and the Earth—can be restored. This campaign isn't just about infrastructure. It's about proving that another way is possible. A way rooted in Ancient Wisdom, mutual respect, and the wild Spirit that connects us all. What Your Support Will Fund $5,000 – Upgrade &amp; Winterize Small Animal and Bird EnclosuresOur birds and small animals need safe, warm spaces to thrive through winter. This funding will reinforce structures, add insulation, and ensure their health and safety. $5,000 – Backup GeneratorsWhen the power goes out, our animals are at risk. Generators will keep water flowing, heating running, and our ability to respond to emergencies intact. $8,000 – Improve &amp; Expand Horse Space for Food Forests and RescueWe continue to improve the fencing and gate structures to ensure our Horses remain safe and contained. Additionally, more grazing space means we can rescue more Horses while stewarding well the Land and Trees and expand our regenerative food forest program, and grow the medicinal plants like those that saved Moe's life. $15,000 – Property-Wide Wifi UpgradeReliable connectivity isn't a luxury, it's a safety necessity.
