Royce is only 3 years old. When we pulled him from Gwinnett County Animal Control on Sunday (9/13), he weighed just 17.3 pounds. He should weigh around 35...&nbsp; For weeks, Royce had been roaming the streets, trying desperately to survive. Eventually, someone called animal control to pick him up. We don&#39;t know exactly what happened before he was found, but given his condition, we believe he may have been dumped by a breeder once he was no longer wanted or useful.&nbsp; Whatever his past looks like, we know what his future needs to be: Safe, loved, fed, cared for, and finally, wanted.&nbsp; Royce is now safe in a loving foster home, where he is receiving the dedicated care he desperately needs. His foster is following a strict feeding schedule because his body is so severely malnourished, he cannot simply be given large amounts of food. We have to carefully nourish him and monitor his recovery to help prevent refeeding syndrome, a potentially life-threatening complication of severe starvation.&nbsp;And Royce has a long medical road ahead.&nbsp; His first veterinary visit today (9/14) revealed a severe upper respiratory infection and advanced dental disease along with numerous other health issues. Today, he had X-rays and blood work done, and once he is strong enough, he will need BOAS surgery, nostril widening surgery, and a neuter. This isn&#39;t going to be a quick or inexpensive recovery.&nbsp; Royce needs food, he needs medication, he needs prolonged veterinary care, he needs surgery, he needs time. And he needs all of us.&nbsp; We made the promise to Royce that we would not give up on him, but we cannot keep that promise without your help.
