Your gift to our “Safe Homes for The Holidays” Fundraiser helps protect autistic individuals at risk of elopement during one of the most high-risk seasons. For most families, the holidays are a joyous time. For families with children on the autism spectrum, it is the most terrifying time of the year. Routine changes, travel, changes to environment, commotion, bright lights, crowded holiday parties and events- dramatically increase the risk of elopement (wandering). A chaotic shopping mall, or door left open for a party guest can result in an elopement incident within seconds- meaning caregivers are in a constant state of hyper-vigilance, and many are not able to enjoy holiday festivities at all. Many autism families are known to skip holiday parties and community events altogether- because the stress of constantly tracking their child or watching doors, often outweighs the enjoyment of the activity itself.   We launched our "Safe Homes for The Holidays" fundraiser to change that. 100% of your tax-deductible donation goes directly to tangible, life-saving equipment for a child at risk of elopement. GPS trackering devices, heavy-duty locks, high decibel alarms, home security cameras, private swim lesson scholarships, and in high-risk cases, perimeter fencing and pool gates. $100 | Stocking Stuffer - Gifts one password-coded doorknob and set of high decibel security alarms. $250 | Gracious Gift - Gifts a full indoor/outdoor home security camera installation $1000 | Guardian Angel - Gifts one GPS tracking device subscription and introductory swim lessons.$5000 | Christmas Miracle - Gifts a full perimeter fencing grant for one high-risk child.(history of frequent elopement(wandering) and close proximity to nearby body of water)
