Help every Yuba County 4th grader experience salmon up close 🐟Since 2018, Yuba Water Agency has fully funded Salmon Expedition field trips for every 4th grader in Yuba County &mdash; giving nearly 1,500 students each year the opportunity to raft the Yuba River, witness returning salmon, and learn firsthand about our watershed, local history and environmental stewardship. For many students, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one they never forget.Following the February infrastructure incident impacting Yuba Water, the agency has had to redirect financial resources toward critical repair and restoration efforts and is unable to continue funding the program at this time.Without community support, Yuba County&rsquo;s 4th graders will lose this extraordinary educational opportunity. The Yuba County Educational Foundation is working to raise $161,000 to preserve the program for this year&rsquo;s students. Together with the South Yuba River Citizens League, we have raised about $100,000, so far from generous local businesses and individuals, leaving about $60,000&nbsp;to raise by August 15 to ensure none of the kids are left behind this year.&nbsp; About the trips:&nbsp;The Salmon Expeditions take place each fall during the salmon run. Students float the Yuba River and observe the salmon lifecycle in real time. The experience also includes classroom lessons before and after the trip to deepen student learning and connect the experience to science and social studies curriculum standards.&nbsp; You can sponsor a student, a bus or a classroom!<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">$3,500 will cover all costs for one classroom&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">$500 covers the cost of a school bus for transportation</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">$100 covers the cost of one student</li></ul>All expenses are paid for, including:o &nbsp; Rafting, insurance, transportation, instructional staff and educational materials, as well as loaner water and cold weather gearo &nbsp; Six hours of combined classroom and field instruction per class&nbsp;We know everyone&#39;s financial situation is different and we sincerely appreciate any level of support you are able to provide.
