Imagine being 15 years old, standing on the deck of a sailboat in the Florida Keys, preparing to scuba dive into the open ocean for the very first time. For 13 Scouts from Troops 181 and 9181 here in Pittsburgh, this will become reality when they attend Sea Base, the Boy Scouts of America’s premier aquatic High Adventure program, July 12–18, 2026.Sea Base is more than a camp—it is a leadership laboratory. Over seven days, Scouts will learn teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience while exploring one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. For some, this will be their first time seeing the ocean.But, this once-in-a-lifetime experience comes with significant costs: program fees, scuba certification, travel, equipment, meals, and lodging.
