On average each opportunity provides 50 pounds or more of food and other household items. That is only $0.04 a pound which is $0.15 a pound less than most major food banks. We do this by keeping overhead low. We operate from an older facility which helps keep rent cost down. We are currently 100% volunteer ran, so no salaries. And we source food that has no cost or Shared Maintenance Fees. Our biggest cost is transportation but when you consider at most, we may spend $800 for fuel for a 40,000-pound load of food which comes to $0.02 a pound compared to at least $0.19 a pound for Shared Maintenance Fees from other major Food Banks. If we reach our goal and continue to reach our goal year after year, we will be able to upgrade our equipment and begin offering even more services.
