Saint Peter and Saint Paul Cathedral (Msaytbeh, Beirut) and Saint Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Church (Achrafieh, Beirut) stand as pillars of a living faith in the Middle East.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> Christianity was born in the Middle East. Today, its presence there is at risk of disappearing.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> Lebanon remains one of the few remaining strongholds of Christianity in the region—a place where the faith is not only remembered, but still lived.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> In Beirut, the Syriac Orthodox Church stands as one of the last living witnesses of this ancient faith—preserving the language of Christ, safeguarding sacred traditions, and serving a community that has endured generations of hardship.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> But today, that community faces new and urgent challenges.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> In April 2026, Saint Peter and Saint Paul Cathedral in Msaytbeh, Beirut has suffered damage due to ongoing conflict.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> At the same time, Saint Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Church in Achrafieh—a historic spiritual anchor for the Syriac Orthodox community—continues to face urgent restoration needs after years of hardship, war, and economic crisis.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> The church was also significantly impacted by the 2019 Beirut Port explosion, leaving lasting damage that still requires critical repair.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> These churches are more than buildings. They are where:<ul><li>Families gather in prayer</li><li>Children learn their faith</li><li>Communities find strength in times of crisis</li></ul>For decades, the Syriac Orthodox community in Lebanon has remained resilient—through war, economic collapse, and displacement. Yet today, the dire economic situation in Lebanon makes it nearly impossible for the local community alone to sustain and restore these churches.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> Now, they need us.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> What Your Support Will DoYour donation will directly help:<ul><li>Repair structural damage caused by recent events</li><li>Restore essential church facilities</li><li>Rehabilitate community spaces for families and youth</li><li>Preserve a sacred place of worship for future generations</li></ul>Why This MattersTo restore these churches is not simply to repair buildings. It is to preserve a living faith. A people. A presence that has existed since the earliest days of Christianity.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> A Moment to ActThis is more than a fundraiser. It is a call to stand with a community that refuses to disappear as a witness of our Lord, Jesus Christ.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> Every contribution—no matter the size—is a statement:<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> That faith will endure. That hope will remain. And that Christianity will continue to live in the very land where it began.<p style="box-sizing:inherit;width:537px;font-style:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:0.25px;orphans:2;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;line-height:1.5;margin-inline:0px !important;margin:0px;max-width:100%"> Stand with Beirut.
