We have bad news to share! 😢 Our hearts are really hurting and we are praying for our founders, Evelyn and Jose. 🙏 They went to the bank today (1/7/26) in La Ceiba to get money so they could buy the medical supplies for the medical team this next week. They withdrew a large sum of funds. Unknowingly, they were being followed from the bank and to multiple pharmacies while they were purchasing supplies. At one of their stops two assailants approached their car and pulled a gun on Jose demanding the money. After refusing to hand over the money the gunman shot Jose in the knee and took their remaining money (100,000-lempiras. ~4,000-usd). Evelyn and Jose went to the hospital and filed a police report. The bullet hit an artery so Jose lost a lot of blood. A 9mm bullet casing was found in their car. Jose is home from the hospital now and in good spirits. They are back to giving and serving the people of Honduras.
