Our mission is to train confident service dogs who will provide their future handler with independence, safety, and companionship throughout daily life. While a service dog can be life-changing, cost remains a major barrier. Through 4 Paws for Ability in Xenia, Ohio, the total cost is $40,000, with families responsible for raising $20,000 themselves. As an Illinois-based organization, we wanted to give back to a family here in Illinois that could use a boost in fundraising for their service dog. We were connected with the O&rsquo;Sullivan family, who has a 5 year-old daughter named Chloe. Just like the other kids her age, she loves reading The Cat in the Hat, going outside to collect sticks and flowers, and playing with her beloved Mr. Fox and Sir Sloth stuffies. However, unlike the other kids her age, Chloe has been diagnosed with two extremely rare genetic disorders, Mowat-Wilson syndrome and Pilarowski-Bjornsson syndrome, along with 19 other neurological and developmental conditions that requires 24/7 care and supervision. While her medical journey has been complex and ongoing, with countless appointments, therapies, and unanswered questions, she is a remarkable little girl who&rsquo;s strength, joy, and resilience inspires everyone who knows her!&nbsp; A service dog would help Chloe feel safe, calm, and supported in a world that often asks too much of her. They would be her best friend who stays with her through every challenge, celebration, and quiet moment in between.
