Paj&eacute; Marli Tume carries one of the Amazon&#39;s most ancient and revered lineages &mdash; and she carries it as the first female Paj&eacute; in the history of the Huni Kuin people. Her emergence as a spiritual leader is a historic moment, as an ancestral tradition that has been carefully protected for centuries now finds new expression through the divine feminine. Her ceremonies, songs, and plant wisdom have been refined across generations and entrusted from elder to student with extraordinary care. This year, something even more extraordinary unfolds. Through the sacred marriage of Dua Ninawa and Wānu, the Huni Kuin and Yawanaw&aacute; traditions are being woven together in ceremony for the first time. To support this historic moment, the Huni Kuin are creating Txatxa Beru Shushate Village&mdash;a multicultural center dedicated to restoring and strengthening Indigenous cultural traditions.
