Mahima International is a women-led organization, founded by women with refugee experience for women with refugee experience. We honor the wisdom we carry &mdash; &nbsp;shaped by displacement and endurance. We believe that remembering, re-imagining and re-authoring our own stories is how we hold on to our past while building a joyful future in our new homeland. Mahima has two pathways to building connection, confidence and belonging. 1. Community Connections through ArtsWe use beading, sewing, cooking, candle-making and other forms of creative expression to break through loneliness and isolation. Making something together creates a safe, welcoming space where real friendships form across cultures &mdash; friendships that become bridges toward belonging. Along the way, many women discover the economic value of their talents, becoming entrepreneurs and active contributors to the local economy. 2. Community Connections through VoiceWe value each woman&#39;s voice. Through Story Circles, storytelling, writing and research, women share their lives in the ways that feel right to them. We offer training, internships, consultations and retreats, and we create openings for entrepreneurship, education and volunteering.&nbsp; Mahima encourages women to share their stories when and how they wish, and only if they choose to. We believe our stories can be a source of strength, for ourselves and for others. Holding onto ownership of our own stories is one way we honor our past and shape our future. Our stories belong to each of us. Mahima will never use them just to chase a grant or a donation.
