Help Us Save the Beat &mdash; Grosse Pointe North Drum Line Needs You! We&#39;re reaching out with an urgent request from the heart of the Grosse Pointe North Marching Band: our drum line equipment is on its last legs &mdash; literally. Our drums and harnesses are so old that replacement parts are no longer manufactured. Right now at band camp, our dedicated students and staff are resorting to wrapping pool noodles around worn-out harnesses just to keep things playable and protect our drummers from severe shoulder and back pain. While we&#39;re proud of their resourcefulness, our drummers deserve gear that lets them focus on making music, not on whether their equipment will hold together through the next performance. Unlike brass and woodwind players who can carry their everyday classroom instruments onto the field, marching percussion requires a completely separate inventory of specialized outdoor gear. Drum line members rely on heavy-duty drums, custom mounting hardware, and wearable ergonomic harnesses built exclusively for field performance. Unfortunately, replacing this specialized equipment falls outside our standard school district budget&mdash;which is why we are turning to our incredible community of band families, alumni, and supporters to help us raise $16,500 for a full replacement.
