A person in a boat uses a tablet in the foreground, while a mangrove shoreline and a promotional overlay for adopting a lagoon zone fill the background.

Take an active role in caring for a part of the Indian River Lagoon.Active adopters register with Space Coast Water Sweep and receive an assigned zone covering approximately four miles of lagoon water and its adjoining shoreline. They can use SCWS survey and reporting tools to document what they observe. Approved reports can appear on the public map with the adopter’s chosen display name and zone color.Adopting a zone is free. A donation is entirely optional. If you choose to give monthly, yearly, or once, your gift helps support SCWS field operations, survey tools, and work to investigate debris that may be hidden beneath the water.A donation does not buy ownership of the water or shoreline, grant access to private property, or guarantee that SCWS will survey or remove everything in your zone. Adopters should observe shoreline access limits and follow SCWS safety and reporting guidance. Recovery work requires the appropriate authorization. To receive a zone assignment and public map recognition, register through the Adopt a Lagoon Zone page on the SCWS website. A Zeffy donation alone does not create your adopter profile or assign a zone.
