In this new project, we are exploring New Hampshire&rsquo;s Presidential Range which harbors the only true arctic-alpine tundra in the United States east of the Rocky Mountains, an ecological island of glacial relict habitat surrounded by temperate forest.&nbsp;Despite extensive botanical and avian studies in this region, its insect &amp; arachnid fauna remains dramatically under-documented. This project proposes the first comprehensive survey of high-elevation insect biodiversity across alpine and subalpine zones in the White Mountains, with a focus on cold-adapted and climate-sensitive species.By combining passive trapping methods with structured citizen science participation and digital submission platforms, we aim to catalog the invertebrate diversity above 2,700 feet, with emphasis on habitats above 4,500 feet where true alpine conditions prevail.
