Beginning in tax year 2027, this new federal tax benefit lets individual taxpayers donate to a qualifying Scholarship Granting Organization to support scholarships for K&ndash;12 students and claim a dollar-for-dollar federal tax credit of up to $1,700 per year. Scholarship support can help cover educational costs such as tuition and learning materials. A tax credit directly reduces the tax you owe. For example, a $1,000 qualifying donation can reduce your federal tax bill by $1,000, up to the annual limit. This benefit applies to qualifying Scholarship Granting Organization donations; this description does not establish that gifts through this form qualify.
