Thrive at the Otter Lodge&nbsp;is our annual campaign to raise general dollars that support our otter pups thrive at The Emerson School. Every dollar raised is invested back into the school through things like supplies for classrooms and general operational support. After spending most of his early years at home during COVID, the move to kindergarten felt big. He&rsquo;s endlessly curious&mdash;always diving deep into facts and connections&mdash;so we hoped to find a place that wouldn&rsquo;t just keep up with his questions, but would celebrate them. At Emerson, that&rsquo;s exactly what happened. Last spring, his class studied honey and bees. One day, on the way to a Blazers game, he spotted a lavender bush and launched into a full explanation about how bees make propolis and how every bee in the hive has a job. He talked about honey and wellness all the way to the arena. That&rsquo;s the magic of Emerson&mdash;a place where curiosity takes flight, creativity blossoms, and learning connects back to the world. That search led us to The Emerson School, a small gem we found tucked away in a Google search. From the very first conversation, every person we met at Emerson was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about children. We knew right then this was something different.&nbsp; After coming from a more individualistic learning environment, Emerson&rsquo;s collaborative, project-based approach was a breath of fresh air. Our son, who thrives on connection, found a community that valued curiosity, creativity, and teamwork. He comes home brimming with excitement about his class projects and the friends he learns alongside.&nbsp; But the moment that truly showed us what Emerson means happened one morning when our son decided to bring his wallet to school. Inside was all the money he&rsquo;d ever been gifted. When we asked why, he said, &ldquo;I want to give it to Emerson.&rdquo; Even after we explained what that meant, he smiled and said he still wanted to&mdash;because his school had given him so much.&nbsp; That&rsquo;s the kind of place Emerson is. A place that inspires not just learning, but generosity, belonging, and a sense of purpose&mdash;values that take root early and last a lifetime.
