If you have had the privilege of meeting Lada Akolzina, chances are you remember her.Lada is bubbly, fun, compassionate, fiercely loyal, and full of life. She has the kind of personality that brings energy into a room and the kind of heart that makes people feel seen, welcomed, and safe. She loves deeply, cares genuinely, and has become a beautiful and important part of our church family.For nearly three years, Lada has been a part of the Alpharetta Seventh-day Adventist Church, and especially our young adult community. But simply saying that she has &ldquo;attended&rdquo; our church doesn&#39;t really capture it. Lada belongs here. She has built friendships here. She has laughed with us, worshiped with us, shared life with us, and become woven into the fabric of our community.To those who know her, Lada is not a case number or an immigration story. She is our friend. She is someone we love. She is family.Lada is currently in the United States with a pending asylum case and has been granted authorization to work while that process continues. Out of respect for her privacy and dignity, we do not want to share every detail of her legal situation publicly. What matters most is that she is presently being held in ICE detention while her case remains unresolved, and this has created an incredibly difficult and uncertain season for her and for those who care about her.Our immediate hope is to raise the funds necessary to help secure her release on bond, should bond be granted, and to assist with the legal and practical expenses that come with navigating this process.This is one of those moments when community matters.When someone we love is hurting, we do not want them to walk through it alone. We surround them. We pray for them. We encourage them. And when there is something tangible we can do to help, we step forward together.Lada has brought so much joy, warmth, laughter, and love into the lives of the people around her. Now we have an opportunity to return some of that love.Every gift&mdash;large or small&mdash;is an expression to Lada that she is seen, she is valued, and she has a community standing beside her.If you are able, please consider giving.
