Belonging does not settle in one shape. Sometimes, it means rooting deeply in family and community, &nbsp;growing in unfamiliar soil. Sometimes it remains an evolving question, becoming the calling for a new journey. All of these paths are held with care. Through movement, poetry, interactive performance, and a companion visual art exhibition, audiences are invited to encounter Taiwanese culture through shared stories and embodied emotion. By witnessing these journeys, audiences are encouraged to connect the emotions onstage with their own lived experiences&mdash;using dance as a bridge for empathy, reflection, and connection. At its heart, Unfinished Island Songs asks: How can immigrant cultures become a gift to the places they arrive in&mdash;and how can communities make room for those who stay, and those who leave? Why NowIn the current U.S. political climate, immigrant lives are increasingly shaped by uncertainty&mdash;shifting policies, public rhetoric, and the emotional weight of not knowing what the future holds. Immigration is often framed through fear-driven narratives: who belongs, who deserves to stay, and who must continually prove their worth. Rather than offering easy answers, Unfinished Island Songs honors belonging as something unfinished and evolving. By inviting audiences to sit with complexity and vulnerability, the work creates space for empathy, listening, and connection across difference&mdash;countering fear with care.
