Heartland EAA Chapter 1240 exists to inspire, educate, and create pathways into aviation for the next generation.Based at Sebring Regional Airport, our volunteer-led organization introduces young people to flight through EAA Young Eagles, supports aviation and aerospace education for hundreds of local students, and works with exceptional partners to provide hands-on learning, industry certifications, mentorship, and flight-training scholarships.Our students are exposed to the full world of aviation &mdash; from piloting and unmanned aircraft to aerospace engineering, aircraft maintenance, powerplants, manufacturing, and design.Through partnerships with the Highlands County School Board, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the Ray Foundation, Sebring Regional Airport, local aviation businesses, and an extraordinary community of pilots, educators, donors, and volunteers, we help turn curiosity into opportunity.Our mission is simple: open the door to aviation, give young people the tools to walk through it, and help them discover just how far they can fly. Through the dedication of our volunteers, educators, aviation partners, and donors, we introduce young people to aviation and then help provide a pathway for those who want to go further.Our Chapter has flown well over 1,000 Young Eagles, giving children their first opportunity to experience flight in a general aviation aircraft. We support hundreds of Highlands County students through aviation, aerospace, engineering, design, and technical education programs. Bring the family &mdash; aviation is considerably more fun when shared.Interested in getting more involved?Our Chapter meeting is held on the Thursday immediately preceding each month&#39;s Pancake Breakfast.
