Winter Emergency Family Assistance Initiative, During the winter months, many working families, particularly farmworkers, experience job loss or significantly reduced hours, resulting in substantial declines in household income. Combined with the ongoing challenges of rising living costs and limited access to public assistance, families often struggle to meet essential needs such as groceries, hygiene items, and other basic needs. The Winter Emergency Family Assistance Initiative enables OCA to respond by providing grocery and essential-needs gift cards directly to families in need. Each year, OCA serves more than 600 families across northern Santa Barbara County through three core programs:

P.O.R. V.I.D.A.! Program: Serves over 250 students annually through culturally responsive case management, mentorship, and family engagement.

R.A.I.C.E.S.: The program engages more than 150 youth in after-school leadership, advocacy, and cultural healing.

Stop the Hate Program: Supports over 85 survivors of violence and their families, connecting them to legal, housing, and counseling resources..

Through these programs, OCA’s team encounters families whose financial insecurity deepens during the winter months. Your sponsorship will directly support these families by ensuring they have access to food and basic household necessities. Additionally, OCA will work closely with each family to connect them to long-term resources, including CalFresh, Medi-Cal, housing assistance, and educational support services. Thank you for considering this opportunity to provide meaningful support during a time of critical need.
