As many of you know, our little rescue has grown faster than we ever imagined. We are beyond grateful for the community that has stepped up, the cats we’ve been able to save, and the amazing gift of securing a building to expand our mission of helping kitties and educating our community. ❤️ But just 6 days after opening, disaster struck. Our largest space — the kitty community room and office — was damaged and has been unusable ever since. Nearly 3 months later, nothing has been repaired, and this loss has hit us hard. Despite the challenges, we said yes where we could. We now care for 179 cats, mostly in foster homes. That means:🐾 348 cans of wet food a day🐾 2 bags of dry food a day🐾 An immeasurable amount of litter Some of those kitties are the kittens that have grown up in foster homes, because our adoptions are extremely low and adoptions of our adult cats, especially our mama cats are just plain out non existent almost. These kitties all need consistent care while with us.  We have had some very expensive medical cases in the last month or so, while we understand its important not to pour all of our monies into one kitty, we also dont think the general public understands how much of a toll having to make the calls on which cat gets what treatment takes on youIt truly is one of the most disturbing parts of rescue.  Every rescue seems to be struggling some more, some less and we are struggling more than ever. It is hard to see anything past our drained bank account, our large fix ur cat bill, the 7 er visits in the last 6 weeks, the mama cat with pneumonia who cant be with her littles ever again, the mama cat put to sleep bc she gave ALL of herself to her very healthy 6 week old kittens and just had nothing left to give, those babies sit in a cage tonight with no mom for the first time ever. Others... 💔 Our girl patches who had her umpteenth litter at 7 years old now sits alone in one of our only 2 rooms at the building to make room for her foster mom to help another set of sick kittens💔 4 kittens dumped at a vets door at risk of euthanasia needing the other room💔 A mom who is deathly sick with pneumonia and her 5 three week old kittens who now need bottle fed and to make space for them, we have to move 3 shy 14 week old kittens 💔 A mama who is claimed to have been stolen from her family who let her live outside with no vetting but you know, she had a loving home💔 A mom with 7 kittens who had a place to stay with her kits until she didnt 💔 Finally Buck has been returned bc well he is Buck and needs an owner who gets him and respects him. This is all in the last 3 days...  While we can barely house and feed our current kitties, these were things we couldn't turn a blind eye too. We just couldn't say no.  We may not be the best at video or social media documentation and we know that, but we are out here busting our asses, working around the clock knowing if we say no the outcomes are bleak for most of these babies and so we say what we say every time "we will figure something out"Somehow that usually happens... it happens because of all you who share our posts, send food and litter, donate, call fix ur cat and pay our bill or step up to foster, even just one time.  Although, this time things look and feel different... but we have faith our supporters and fellow cat/animal lovers will continue to show up in anyway they can.  We love what we do and seeing the difference we make and we cannot wait to have our space back, but with that is more expense but we also will be able to have more events and fundraising opportunities.
