Now you have to not only be sure you are presentable, but your spouse and children have to look good! You also have to clean the house, deck, pool furniture, shock the pool, mow the yard, prepare enough food for 100 people even though you only invited 20! Oh, don't forget the damage done to the new hard wood floors from people dripping using the bathroom...

Now you have to clean the house, pool, yard, rent tables, chairs, linens, table decor, signage, get a new May weather worthy outfit, new threads for the spouse and kids, and prepare or cater food for the 500 people you invited while hoping at least 50 actually show up! Don't forget the chiller stands, because while May sounds like spring it is the first go round with heat and humidity...if it the unexpected rain doesn.t cancel the event altogether. And the bugs....did you plan for the bugs? Be sure to have an Epi Pen on hand in case the flower centerpieces draw in bees....Oh and be sure the pool is sparkling even though no one is getting in...and the house is clean because that is where the majority of everyone will be even though all the decor and food is by the pool!

This one is a little more serious. You know someone who has just been diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme. You see them, you hear the words, but you do not understand how this about to change their daily life and the lives of everyone around them. You WATCH as their entire family dynamic changes in an instant. There are now medical procedures instead of being the first one at work everyday. Doctors appointments in various cities replace ball games and recitals on the family calendar. Friday night pizza parties are no longer affordable, nor a priority since it will take all weekend to recover from the latest treatment. You WATCH as the person you once knew changes physically, mentally and in other ways you can not explain. You WATCH as all the people around them exhaust themselves doing anything they can to help. You WISH you could do more. You WISH you knew what to say. You WISH you could find answers to questions they are not even asking. Most of all you WISH you had never heard of GBM. You WONDER if they have the right dianosis, the best doctors, the right procedures, the right treatments. You WONDER if they have everything they need to be comfortable. You WONDER how much longer they will live. You WONDER if someone else close to you will be diagnosed with this monster. You WONDER if you did all you could to help. You WONDER if they truly knew how much you loved them after they are gone. You WONDER what to say to their wife, husband, child, sibling, parent, friends....
