Community radio KNSJ 89.1 FM had a mission–to be a catalyst for an informed community, to use its creative energies to “network for social justice” and to “empower members to create high quality radio for people and viewpoints which have been historically marginalized and traditionally excluded by the commercial media.” <span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;box-sizing:inherit">10 years later, the media landscape is more homogenous and monopolized than ever. The rampant spread of misinformation throughout our increasingly corporatized digital media platforms means that now more than ever, independent media is critical to the democratic discussion.
