Please Help get “Nay”-- whose mother was murdered-- sustainably, mobile again!

Drejanay Brown, whose nickname is “Nay,” was in an accident in January when a tire blew out in her car while she was driving on the highway. Thankfully, she was not injured but her vehicle, a 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sport sustained major damage and needs $4000 in repairs to make it safe to drive again.

Angie Brown about a year before her death

Angie Brown, Nay's mother, was murdered in Columbia MO in 2000 (along with two other people), while Angie held her two children, then-toddler Driesha and Drejanay, who was an infant. Left motherless, the youngsters were raised by Val Brown, their grandmother, Angie's mother. Two decades later, the sisters are hard-working and living independently.

Val recently called the Mid-Missouri Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) asking for help so we offered to set up a campaign to through Zeffy.

Nay lives in Kansas City MO, working as a phlebotomist, drawing blood for health screenings, at two hospitals. Needing to have reliable transportation but not having savings to cover the full cost of repair, Nay began leasing a car. Val notes her “daughter” (the girls have always called her “Mom,” given their family's tragic reality)-- soon after the wreck, had to ask Val for financial help, given the expenses of city living.

Val works as a cook at a Columbia nursing home. She also didn't have nearly enough savings to pay the repair bill. Instead, Val has been paying the car rental fees-- amounting to $1200 a month, for months. She acknowledges her checking and savings accounts have nearly been totally depleted.

Nay and Val desperately need our help in paying for the needed repairs (thankfully the shop hasn't been charging  any car-storage lot fees)--so that Nay can end the leasing arrangement, get her own car back and keep her job. Val also acknowledged she's on the verge of financial ruin, having to consider moving out of her rental house to live with a relative or friend. Please give as generously as you can to help Drejanay and Val get back on the road to self-sufficiency.
