Have you or someone you know fought cancer? Do you know someone currently in the throws of cancer, that doesn't know what to do next? This is where UCAAN, United Cancer Advocacy Action Network comes in! We focus on providing the most up to date information, cancer resources, and one-on-one programs to anyone, any age, fighting cancer now! UCAAN is working hard to help cancer warriors in Ventura County through a vital program that we thought would be beneficial in the beginning, but haven't had the ability to start, mainly because we've had other programs that we focused on. 87% of the cancer patients that we work with have no family or friends to help them through their journey. 93% of the cancer patients that we work with are at or below the poverty level. Many of which, cannot afford their insurance, their copays, lodging, transportation, their food or even caregiving. The upcoming program is called UCAAN HEAL. UCAAN's Healthy Eating and Living program is focused on getting the best, healthiest food to those battling cancer, now. With a plan to start the program, once fully funded, we will offer this unique program to anyone fighting any form of cancer, any age to residents in Ventura County that submit an application that gets approved. This is for the most vulnerable cancer patients in our community. This program would allow us to make and package nutrient dense freeze dried food for those who can benefit from it the most, in our community. We need the help of the community to raise the much needed funds to officially start this program, Please become one of our heroes! - We are looking to volunteers who want to help us with this program. - We are looking for a donation (preferred) or discounted (month to month) payment option for a Freeze Dryer - We are looking for local farms that would be willing to donate food they can't sell at farmers markets or to stores, but are still good - Misfit and unpretty foods. - We are looking for chefs or caterers who want to help UCAAN by either creating cooking videos that we can offer to our cancer warriors through the program for free, focusing on Cancer fighting diets, or Cancer Prevention diets. We will also offer a paid membership (funds go to UCAAN) to others to enjoy the videos as well. - We are looking for local businesses who want to be mentioned on our social media for their contribution to UCAAN for this program, and some businesses would be included on a special sponsor label on the freeze dried foods we distribute. - We are looking for monthly donors to help us raise enough money to start this program. The last program we had for UCAAN, was our Gas Assistance Program, which helped us fill the GAP for those fighting cancer get to treatments, thanks to a monthly gas card.
