Bay Ultimate Youth Affiliate (BUYA) is a youth ultimate organization that was established in 2020 to support the highly motivated youth of the Bay Area to achieve excellence on the field as players while also empowering them to grow as leaders. We are a nonprofit under the section 501(c)(3).

We are excited to send a cohort of players to the USA Ultimate Youth Club Championships (YCCs) in Aurora, CO in August. This prestigious tournament brings teams from all over the country to compete in five different divisions — U17 boys, U17 girls, U20 girls, U20 boys and U20 mixed.

This year, BUYA is sending teams in four divisions:

• Belly of the Beast (U17 Girls’ Division)
• Aftershock (U17 Boys’ Division)
• Current (U20 Girls’ Division)
• Red Dawn (U20 Boys’ Division)

These teams continue a Bay Area tradition that began in 2010 and our focus, as always, is on accessibility so that any eligible player will not be turned away due to cost. We are asking for the community’s support to help us ensure that these athletes can perform to their highest level.

Here’s how your donation (large or small!) can make an impact:

• An hour of team practice field space: $30
• 1 player’s jersey set: $70
• 1 player’s meals + snacks for the weekend: $80
• 1 player’s lodging for the weekend: $160

Your donation also helps fund the Efe Ustenci Scholarship, which covers YCC expenses for two players. Efe was a local ultimate player whose heart failed while swimming in a lake just after graduation in 2016. He was a compassionate friend to many, an incredible ultimate athlete who always gave everything he had on every point, and an even greater human being who brought joy, humor and deep thought to everyone he was around.
