The Thurgood Marshall Middle School Citizen Science Institute (CSI) is an Olympia School District alternative program. In this multi-grade (6th-8th) program, students participate in academically-challenging scientific and civic investigations and become Citizen Scientists. They develop a sense of place through place-based and service learning. They understand and practice the philosophy of “interconnectedness,” that their actions can have both positive and negative consequences for their local and global communities.

In order to provide students with a full program of field investigations, rich lab and classroom activities, and other enhanced learning opportunities, the CSI parent board works to raise the necessary funds. Each school year, the program costs an average of $500 per student, beyond what is funded by the Olympia School District.

You can support the program by making a donation, or you can set up a monthly pledge so you can break your gift into chunks!
