It looks like raised glasses and long hugs. It looks like ugly cries and beautiful belly laughs. It&#39;s art making, late-night kitchen talks, and meals shared with people who truly get it.&nbsp; In honor of Grief Awareness Day on August 30th, we&#39;re asking our supporters, community members, and all those interested in building a better world for grievers, to support this work. Your impact will be amplified, thanks to two generous donors who are matching all donations made this week, up to $50,000. Grief Awareness Day 2025

January 2018 changed everything - I lost my mom after her 3.5-year fight with cancer. At 31, newly married with a 6-month-old son, what should have been an exciting new chapter was instead overshadowed by grief that turned my world upside down. I found <a href="https://www.thedinnerparty.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color:initial;user-select:auto;box-sizing:inherit" target="_blank">The Dinner Party</a> in late 2018, and it helped me in ways few people could. It gave me a community of others who had also lost someone they loved - a place to talk about grief openly and without judgment. Along the way, I met many wonderful people, some of whom I’m still in touch with today. Grieving a loved one is a club no one wants to join, at any age. What makes The Dinner Party so meaningful is that it brings together people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, because losing someone in your early years is a different experience than losing someone later in life. The pain is just as real, but the way it shapes your world is different.
