Spring seems far away, but it will be here before we know it. We’re planning now for our most aggressive trapping project yet in March 2025. We aren’t waiting around for next year’s kittens to show up. By then it’s too late to help too many of them. Now is the time to start targeting the cats that at risk of being mommas, and spay them before it happens. If we can’t trap them in time to prevent a litter from arriving on the scene, we CAN make sure they give birth indoors, in safety. Protecting mom and her babies from predators and parasites,  and lots handling and socializing gives every kitten a chance at it's best life--as a treasured pet. We’re preparing now to prevent next years' cats and kittens in crisis. We can make sure every cat and kitten born in Belfast is wanted, cared for and loved.  Your donation will help us spay, neuter, vaccinate and provide urgent vet care needs for community cats in several ways: through our trap-neuter return project, by equipping and supporting cat caretakers who need help with spay/neuter, by providing shelter for mommas with kittens, by contributing vet care and food support for barn cats and feral colonies, by helping pet owners access affordable spay and neuter options (even if we have to transport their pet) and finally, by connecting social, adoptable rescued cat and kittens to adopters nearby in WNY and as far away as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Maryland.Here's how we will use donated funds. Trap maintenance and repair and purchasing more traps: Trucatch and Tomahawk are safe and reliable, but we can put any safe trap to use.  Purchasing dry food, canned food, and kitten formula by the pallet. Medications like Ponazuril, Metronidazole, Panacur and Clavamox are needed to treat parasites and upper respiratory infections. We’re getting in line for a limited number of precious vet appointments now. We plan to hit the ground running as soon as the days get longer.  We could really use your support to make it happen. If you are planning end of year giving, please consider supporting our rescue.   Here's a photo of one of the feral colonies we've been monitoring and supporting with lots of food, straw and shelter though the cold winter months. The sweet little boy pictured below was rescued nearby with his momma and siblings in summer of 2024. Meet little Apple. He’s already neutered, vaccinated, flea treated and microchipped.
