It looks like raised glasses and long hugs. It looks like ugly cries and beautiful belly laughs. It&#39;s art making, late-night kitchen talks, and meals shared with people who truly get it.&nbsp; In honor of Grief Awareness Day on August 30th, we&#39;re asking our supporters, community members, and all those interested in building a better world for grievers, to support this work. We train and support a growing network of peer Hosts, &nbsp;connect them to 10-15 other grievers to form Tables, and hand-match one-on-one pairs of grieving peers to expand access beyond the group setting. When I lost my mother more than ten years ago—after a 2.5 year battle with cancer—I was completely unprepared for how deeply it would affect me. In an instant, I lost my biggest supporter, my thought partner, my caretaker, and my closest friend. The hardest part was not having the one person I would normally turn to when facing something so difficult. After weeks of struggling on my own, I found The Dinner Party: a community built for people navigating the loss of a loved one. Around shared meals, I was finally able to have the conversations I needed—conversations I couldn’t bring myself to have with my family and friends, for fear of being “a downer.” At the table, I was met with people who truly understood. Today, The Dinner Party supports thousands of grievers across the country. Your gift directly fuels this work—helping hosts gather people around tables, supporting 1:1 peer “Buddies” who pick up the phone when someone needs it most, and welcoming new grievers off the waitlist into the community they’ve been longing for. Here’s how one griever described their first Dinner Party:<blockquote>“I was struck by the setting (a 20-something’s apartment, not a hospital—thank god!), the vibe (held so lightly, by one of us, and therefore 1000% more authentic and accessible), and the camaraderie (perfection).
