🌟 HSDS is opening up our own space! 🌟

The Houston Swing Dance Society has been dancing here in Houston since 1997. We have dreamt of having our own space for a very long time. For the last 10 years, we’ve brainstormed on how to grow our local community to make this happen, and it’s finally coming to fruition!

How you can help power our mission:

1. Support: Join us every Sunday and invite your friends as we count down the days to our move date: July 6th!
2. Donate: Every dollar counts. Contribute without fees to help us reach our goal. 
3. Share: Share our campaign with your friends, family, and on social media. Your advocacy can amplify our impact.
4. Volunteer: We will need help in June and early July as we start construction on our floor and add furniture to make the space our own!

Here are a few details on what we plan to use these funds for:

🪩Flooring!

 We need to build a floor! Right now, the space has smooth concrete, but we plan to build out a raised wood floor that’s sealed and perfect for dancing Lindy hop! This is our biggest priority and probably our biggest expense. We plan to use volunteer labor, but materials could cost us up to $20,000.

🔊Sound!

Right now, the space is a blank canvas, so we will want to add a few speakers. We hope to raise enough funds to outfit the space with built-in speakers powerful enough for the 5,000 sqft, otherwise we will implement a temporary sound system as we continue to raise funds.

🔥Airflow!

We have a few small fans, and the space does have AC! We would love to add a few fans to the ceiling to help keep the space as cool as possible. We would also like to add spray foam to seal the ceiling for insulation and sound dampening.
