Maintain & Grow: A Spring Refresh for WSCC!

Spring is a time for renewal and growth, and we're excited to spruce up the Wilkins School Community Center (WSCC) – both inside and out! We're launching a fundraising campaign to make some much-needed improvements to maintain our beloved spaces and help WSCC continue to grow and serve the community.

• UPDATE IT! Safer Playtime
  We're upgrading our playground with deeper rubber mulch, ensuring kids have a safer landing during playtime.

• MAINTAIN IT! Blooming Community Garden
  We'll replenish our container gardens with soil and vibrant plants, creating a beautiful and productive space for everyone. We're also adding flowers to brighten the center's surroundings.

• UPDATE IT! Modernized Website
  Our website, now five years old, needs a refresh to better showcase our growing programs and resources.

• MAINTAIN IT! Building Preservation
  Our historic 1927 building requires essential maintenance: new safety rugs, updated garbage cans, kitchen repairs (water pressure gauge), and additional tables for community gatherings.

Fundraising Breakdown:

• Playground Refresh: $1,250

  • 150 bags of rubber mulch at $7.50 per bag = $1,125

  • Delivery fees = $125

• Community Garden: $492

  • 20 bags of Miracle-Gro in-ground soil at $4.60 per bag = $92

  • 1 truckload of mulch (10-30 cubic yards) + delivery = $400

• Website Upgrades: $2,500

• Building Maintenance: $6,130

  • Safety Rugs: 

    • 4 safety rugs (3 for auditorium, 1 for kitchen) at $150 per rug or $600

  • Pressure Gauge Fix: Estimated cost $4,000

  • Garbage Cans:

    • 2 outdoor garbage cans at $175 each or $350

    • 2 rolling Rubbermaid indoor garbage cans at $80 each or $160

    • 2 large garbage cans for kitchen/auditorium level at $60 each or $120

  • Tables:

    • 15 Folding six-foot tables at $59.99 each or $900

Total Fundraising Goal: $10,500

  Invited to a special "Spring Fling" event at the Center + membership.

  Recognized with a plaque in the community garden + Invited to a special "Spring Fling" event at the Center + membership.
