This work is personal. As a South Korean adoptee, Elisabeth returns to Korea for the first time as an adult, piecing together her birth story while finding her place between two cultures. She and her cast of four adoptee dancers are exploring identity, loss, and belonging—standing unapologetically in their truths.<h3>Why It Matters</h3>Adoptees often grow up feeling invisibilized, disconnected from their heritage, and searching for belonging. This performance isn’t just about dance—it’s about healing, reclaiming space, and telling stories that need to be heard.  Elisabeth's project will investigate the following questions: As members of the Asian Diasporas, how are we seeing and being seen in our true identities? Living in the duality of being a part of two or more cultures, what does home mean for us and how we do we find our sense of place? What is the intersectionality between our adoptee identity and Asian American identity? How do we bridge the gap that is creating a cultural divide between our identities and our history of heritage? What are the parts of our birth stories that we carry and long to understand more deeply? What do we want to reclaim or proclaim for ourselves through our art?
