5/12/2025 UPDATEWow. Just, wow. We are beyond grateful for the incredible generosity and support from each and every one of you. We thought it would be impossible to raise the funds to go to the World Finals in such a short period of time, but after just one week -- between the donations from our community of family, friends, and neighbors on this donation site and our other fundraising efforts offline -- we have met our fundraising goal! From the bottom of our hearts—THANK YOU! Our Odyssey of the Mind team has worked tirelessly over the past several months to solve creative challenges, think outside the box, and collaborate as a team—and now we've earned a spot at World Finals, May 21-24, 2025 in Michigan!  Odyssey of the Mind (OM) means so much to our members – here’s what some of our girls have to say:  "I love OM because it is a place where you get to be creative and think out of the box. You get to stretch your mind to the depths of creativity and create things that no one else has thought of before. OM is special to me because me and my team have created this skit and have worked so far and achieved many things together. We have grown very close during this time."~ Kira, 5th Grade  “OM is for those creative minds.  It helps your creativity shine through in endless possibilities.  It also helps build up good teamwork since you have to work in a group. You have to support other ideas and not put them down. OM can be really healthy for your social connection and thinking.  OM is very hard since us kids have to make the script, set, and costumes, all by ourselves.  We have put so much work into OM and Worlds would mean everything.”~ Morgan, 5th Grade  “Odyssey of the Mind is an amazing experience and has helped me build so many skills from working with my team members to create the skit. I have greatly improved on everything from creativity, to thinking outside the box, to collaborating to achieve the common goal and resolving conflict. I love doing Odyssey of the Mind because it also is very fun, and a great way to spend my time. During this year, our group grew into a tight-knit team that could accomplish anything. And we accomplished a lot. We worked through Regionals, States, and now are trying to raise money for us to go to the World Finals. We would be representing the state of Virginia, and we hope we make Virginia proud.”~ Francie, 5th Grade  “ I love Odyssey of the Mind because it’s a great way to think outside of the box, be creative, and have to be able to think fast! In OM, there are really no limits and that's what I love about it. Working with my team let me make new friends and getting to know them was a prize alone. Working together we have more and better ideas. Going to Worlds means everything to us because we all worked so hard for this and all the time we put into it. I am also excited about seeing the other teams and from other cultures.”~ Kaitlyn, 5th Grade This is an incredible opportunity for us to showcase our problem-solving skills, meet teams from around the world, and represent the Sangster Elementary community on a global stage. But we need your help to get there!    Registration fees ($3750 alone!), travel expenses to Michigan, and materials add up quickly. Your donation—big or small—helps cover the costs and brings us one step closer to going to Worlds! We only have a few weeks to raise funds -- if you believe in creativity, teamwork, and perseverance, please consider supporting us.
